  • CUSTOM GLASS SHELVES IN NEW YORK CITY

FROM $139 — CUT TO SIZE, POLISHED AND INSTALLED

    GET A QUOTE

A glass shelf holds what’s on it without visually taking up space. Light passes through instead of stopping at a solid board, so a wall of glass shelving reads as open where timber or MDF would close the room in — which matters in an apartment where every wall is doing work.

Glass Factory cuts custom shelves to any size and installs them across New York City. Every shelf is toughened safety glass with polished edges, specified for the span and the weight it needs to carry, and mounted with hardware suited to the wall it’s going into.

How Much Do Custom Glass Shelves Cost?

Our custom glass shelves start at $139. What moves the number:

  • Size & thickness — Longer spans and heavier loads need thicker glass, which costs more per shelf.
  • Number of shelves — A single bathroom shelf prices differently than a full wall of shelving.
  • Glass type — Clear is the baseline; low-iron, frosted, and tinted are upgrades.
  • Edge finish — Flat polished is standard; beveled and custom profiles cost more.
  • Mounting hardware — Concealed floating supports cost more than visible brackets or clips.
  • Wall type — Tile, brick, and plaster each need different anchoring, and tile takes more care to drill.

Pricing is confirmed once we have the dimensions and know the wall. Contact us and we’ll give you a firm quote.

Where Glass Shelves Work

Bathroom Shelves

Non-porous and unaffected by steam — nothing to swell, warp, or hold moisture the way timber does.

Kitchen & Pantry Shelving

Wipes clean of grease and spills, and doesn’t stain from anything set on it.

Living Room & Display Shelving

Floating shelves for books, art, and objects — the shelf disappears and what’s on it stands out.

Alcove & Niche Shelving

Cut to fit a recess exactly, wall to wall, with no gaps at the sides.

Retail Display & Shop Fittings

Product shelving for shops and showrooms, where the merchandise should be the visible thing.

Cabinet & Closet Shelving

Replacement shelves cut to fit existing cabinetry, wardrobes, and display units.

Mounting, Edges & Glass Options

Floating (concealed) supports — Hidden brackets set into the wall so the shelf appears unsupported. The cleanest look, and the most demanding on the wall structure.

Brackets & clips — Visible supports in a range of finishes; practical, adjustable, and suited to heavier loads.

Recessed into a niche — A shelf cut to sit inside an alcove, supported on the sides.

Edges — Flat polished as standard, beveled for a traditional look, or a pencil round for a softer edge.

Thickness — Specified from the span and the load, so the shelf stays flat and doesn’t flex over time.

Glass options — Clear, low-iron for a colorless edge, frosted for a softer look, or tinted to match the interior.

How It Works

01

Measurement & Wall Check

We measure the space and check what’s behind the wall — tile, plaster, brick, or stud — because that determines what the shelf can be mounted with and how much it can hold.

02

Specification

Thickness, edge finish, glass type, and mounting hardware are confirmed against the span and the intended load.

03

Fabrication

Shelves are cut to your exact dimensions, edges polished smooth, and the glass toughened.

04

Secure Installation

Our installers drill and anchor into the structure behind the surface, set the shelf level, and check it before we leave.

Built for New York Walls

Mounting a shelf in a New York apartment is rarely straightforward. Pre-war plaster crumbles, tiled bathroom walls need drilling without cracking the tile, and what’s actually behind the surface is anyone’s guess until you check. We look before we drill, use anchoring suited to the substrate we find, and mount into structure rather than into plaster alone — which is the difference between a shelf that stays up and one that pulls out of the wall a year later.

FAQ

Yes. We make our shelves from tempered glass, which is shockproof and several times stronger than standard glass, and breaks safely if ever damaged. When properly sized and anchored, they reliably hold books, decor, and bathroom or kitchen items. We match the glass thickness to the shelf span and expected load.

Yes. The glass surface is waterproof and won’t absorb moisture or odors, which makes it well suited to bathrooms and kitchens. Mounting into tiled walls requires proper drilling and anchoring into the structure behind the tile, which our team handles cleanly. The result is a shelf that stays secure in wet areas.

Thickness depends on the shelf’s span and how much weight it will carry — wider shelves and heavier loads call for thicker glass to prevent flexing. For most home shelves a mid-range thickness balances strength with a slim look. We calculate the right spec before fabrication so the shelf stays flat over time.

Yes. Shelves can be frameless or framed and finished with options like coloring or printing to match your interior. Edges are polished smooth for safety and a clean appearance. Each shelf is cut to your exact dimensions.
